reaching back to my breaking point again panicking like slipping into an old pair of shoes becoming someone that I was it was a reflection in the mirror of the car of the sunset dipping below golden wisconsin, i was halfway in my dreams and now it feels like hedonic damage, hedonic damage I dont recall agreeing to this life I’ve been gliding by, trying hard to hear that lesson’s sound it’s not something you write down but who will pay my crystalizing debt who will settle the balance for the good that’s in my life and how can I get that back it always feels like hedonic damage, hedonic damage

Unperceived 02:49
counting down until the times up looking over at the other side push against it in the morning show me something I can’t describe my intuition is revealing a mirror held up to the sky I try to capture the feeling I don’t know why why can’t I be unperceived what can’t i believe what I seee why can’t I be unperceived what can’t i believe what I see there is no reason to wander through the ashes if you’ve been sifting through every single last perception but the way the light seems to cling to outer layers while something dodges divination voiding in the center youll see why can’t I be unperceived what can’t I believe what I see

I really can’t explain what had come over me It’s like I wasn’t there but driving from the backseat I’m not that type of guy but everybody can change Isn’t that what you said when you called me again now I was in a rut, not my finest of course I didn’t what came first: the cart or the horse but you seemed kind of down with my emotional place wouldn’t you be surprised that blew up in our face…s the opposite of dodging a bullet the opposite of dodging a bullet okay you know what they say: everything shall pass but then they also say it’s the memory that lasts you treated me kinda bad but I was kind of an ass a subject upon which I could teach a grad class now in retrospect we both should have been alone just nursing our own wounds and tending our broken bones but instead we tried to do some alchemy not the best track record in history the opposite of dodging a bullet the opposite of dodging a bullet so what does it mean, “the opposite of dodging a bullet” well, I think it means something like “dodging something that you need” well, wouldnt the “opposite of dodging a bullet” just be “taking a bullet” I guess you can look at it that way either way it’s not so good the opposite of dodging a bullet the opposite of dodging a bullet [tf2 minigun sound]

a golden look, a stolen glance if I could only find the time to be myself I didnt ask to you didnt ask, too take a ruby in your left hand walk ten paces from where you stand drop to the ground once you reach down in the soft earth let the stone drown now repeat it twice for good luck find your footing if you get stuck dont you want to yes i want to dont I want too yes i want you and now I’m pulled into the portal of your voice and how I’d choose it if I even had a choice it hardly matters it doesnt matter If there was magic strong enough to let me go I’d do all that I could to ruin it’s approach I think I like it who even asked you take the locket from your pocket throw it to me i’ll unlock it walk to the pier despite your fear in the ocean I will appear now repeat it twice for good luck say it with me if you get stuck don’t you want to yes I want to dont I want too yes I want you
5.
what is your name scoop out my brains I dont remember inviting you to mess me up to mess me up “jed understood that information should never be allowed to accumulate for too long like desires and become a static form. information should constitute the thinnest possible coating on paintings, sculptures, deserted public plazas, and airports” -TAN LIN i’m just two mirrors pointed at each other there’s nothing in-between but empty space i messed it up i messed it up (again) (okay) what is the deal with dating these days? is it designed to make you go clinically insane? and when you’ve had your fill you wait by the door behind that: another door, the same one as before, just mirrors and doors

Way Down 03:51
down the county road warm beers in our hands where the faded palm trees start to bend we wanted to lookout but nothing like that there so we sat where nobody had been just old roadside garbage again then it went down down way down down down way down down down way down down down way down time it passes fast but it doesn’t leave a mark that part is left up to us you spoke of the past year in some kind of code until you told me that I should go well this aint my first rodeo I always stay for the end of the show and then we went down down way down down down way down down down way down down down way down

No One Knows 03:35
me, a pocketful of change always adding up the same never found a place to land always parachute to plane from plane to parachute you, and your funny little soul golden starlight brimming lungs glide across the glassy field put your words onto my patient tongue ‘cause all I know is I dont know no one knows you, you’ll draw your arrow from the deer and whisper to my scattering fear the words I heard, the words were I dont know, no one knows search your heart, you know I’m not lying say it’s so, repeat it slow the mission starts so hit the ground running don’t look back, counterattack you turned the page I watched your finger tremble in air, you turned towards me you looked me down and thats when you told me no one knows (x4) go it doesnt matter what they say I still built it anyway dont take it away go ahead and take it away no dont take it away go ahead and take it away

I’m not doing having beautiful days I’m not doing having beautiful days when I walk through the mountain thrush when you stood there in my doorway it made me blush, that’s a feeling I like I’m not doing having beautiful days I swear, I’m not done having beautiful days I’ll scrape as many as I can from the bottom of the river when I walk through the marketplace when a child smiles at me with a sunburned face I swear i’m not done having beautiful days I swear

about

Dear M. Plum Wooer, arctic boundary charmer, big-wheel deal weaver: I hope this sudden and hurried correspondence finds you well. Enclosed, you will find the 10 songs written over this past strange year (okay it's a quarantine album, sue me!). During your prolonged sabbatical at the docks, experimenting with your hideous mechanical fish and loutish flirting with the local sheriffs, I have had to hone many new skills in order to fulfill my duties, not that you should ever care: singing techniques, music theory, synthesis, production, bouquet arrangement, stork breeding. It wasn't always easy and I got in a lot of loud verbal arguments with myself which I often won. But it was a deep source of pleasure to learn these new things and experience small, personal triumphs. This is all despite you but for you, so I hope it's an equally deep pleasure to listen to. Yours inscrutably, me.

"'Keep it light,' poet August Smith briefly reminds himself on Plum Wooer's Plume Ruiner – a testament to the experimental debut's ability to not take itself too seriously. Smith's instrumentation jumps from rocksteady basslines to danceable synth-pop to bongo grooves, himself melding a dull drone with Beach Boys harmonies and post-punk vocal stretch. Ruminations on the stinging unknowns of human existence and Smith's self-destructive habits melt into celebratory cynicism amid conversational interludes and witty rhymes. While diverse sonics make for a slightly disjointed experience, gooey synths and Smith's playful demeanor form two consistencies that feel like gliding through another world, one drenched in blissful self-awareness."
